THIS WEBSITE WILL EVENTUALLY BE SUBSUMED INTO THE MIDDLESEX WING MAIN WEBSITE AT www.middlesexwing.co.uk

Welcome to the website of MxSATT - Middlesex Wing Air Training Corps Small Arms Training Team. This website aims to be an information resource for all ATC personnel interested in ATC rifle shooting. I hope that you find it informative and helpful.

I would also like to record my sincere thanks to all those staff who help run MxSATT courses, often giving up many extra hours over and above the time they already give so feely to their respective Squadrons.

Shaun Parkes

Flt Lt RAFVR(T)

Wing Weapons Officer / OC MxSATT

Overview

The Middlesex Wing (Wg) ATC Small Arms Training Team (MxSATT) consists of a handful of adult staff from Middlesex Wing Squadrons. These staff hold various qualifications in shooting / weapons related subjects and setup, run or assist in delivering training courses for Middlesex Wing's cadets and staff alike. The functions of the team are to;

  • assist Squadrons who do not have Weapons Instructors / Range Officers to train their cadets in basic rifle shooting

  • train instructors for those Squadrons to allow local training to take place

  • run 'conversion' courses onto other weapons so that instructors can broaden their skills and cadets can fire more challenging rifles

  • encourage and develop an interest in all shooting throughout the Wing, in  air rifle, small bore rifle, full bore service rifle, or full bore target rifle.

Mission

To;

  • Support and encourage all shooting activities in all squadrons in Middlesex Wing.
  • Act as subject matter advisors to the Wing Commanding Officer, Staff Officers, Squadron Shooting Officers, Squadron Commanders and Squadron Training Officers.
  • Encourage (and facilitate) Staff to go on Wing or Region SATT coaching and range management courses, and to prioritise and process applications for the best advantage of Middlesex Wing and local Squadrons.

Mr Howard is a highly qualified weapons instructor, range officer and coach. AWO Howard holds the RMQ(C)I (Range Management Instructor); which equates to the military SA(B)90 qualification;  WI(C)T (L) (Weapons Instructor - Trainer) (Licensed) , and qCWHT(T)(L) (qualified to Conduct Weapons Handling Test - Trainer - Licensed) qualifications.  Other Middlesex Wing Staff who assist on Wing ranges and courses  are

  • Pilot Officer Jo Parkes (Mrs Jester!) RMQ(C)SR, qCWHT and WI(C) qualifications.
  • Adult Sergeant Sharon Jassal RMQ(C)SR, NRA Club Instructor and Weapons Instructor. Member of 5SATT.
  • Flight Lieutenant Ian Berry  OC a Middlesex Wing Squadron, formerly a qualified Range Officer now holding the qCWHT qualification.
MxSATT also greatly appreciate the help and assistance given by all personnel who assist on the ranges from time to time. However, we always need more help. The more experienced and qualified staff we have, the more training we can deliver to cadets. Also we will, of necessity, have to prioritise applications (for Wing or Region SATT Courses) from staff who assist on Wing courses and Wing shooting events, as the Wing's cadets will therefore benefit, not only the applicant's own unit's cadets.

Website: Run by Flt Lt Shaun Parkes (Jester) OC MxSATT. This is a 'living' website in that it will continually develop in line with changes in regulations, weapons, training policies and documents and so on.
