Marksman Tests and Badges
In the 'old days', using the Number 8 or the
old Lee Enfield .303 rifles, you had to achieve a 1 inch group or less at 25
yards (metres). So the odd 'fluke' marksman award was possible and did
happen.

Jacket (with shoulder button) and Service Sling may be
used.

Small Target Gauge to be used for scoring on Wing, Region and Corps Marksman
Competitions. The Inner Ring or the Gauge is to be positioned over the Bull ring
of the target. Shots inside or touching the Gauge Outer Ring score. Those
breaking or outside do not score. If using the NRA 5 Bull Tin Hat diagrams in
the Wing Marksman Test the Gauge Inner Ring is to be positioned over the half
moon aiming mark.
